Nestled inside the gorgeous Sawgrass community, Ponte Vedra Golf and Country Club offers up a unique golf experience for residents, members and visitors to an Arnold Palmer/Ed Seay original that was recently updated by former PLAYERS champion and now renowned designer Mark McCumber.

Ponte Vedra Golf and Country Club boasts an active membership, but also looks forward to hosting limited public play. Locally owned and managed, the friendly, professional staff specializes in hosting charitable and group outings of any size, particularly the small and mid-sized gatherings of up to 60 players that are often given minimal attention by other clubs. At Ponte Vedra Golf and Country Club, those groups get completely customized care to meet their desires, with full catering options available, making it an ideal setting to entertain family, friends and clients.

The course itself features stunning, treelined fairways and mildly undulating greens that demand smart shot-placement and a deft touch with the short game. Though only 6400 yards from the tips, a rating/slope from those tees of 71.4/138 attests to the challenge from “all the way back” on this par-70 layout. Only one of the four par-5s is less than 550 yards from back tees, the difference in yardage coming from SIX fabulous, yet fun par-3s that are the signatures of Ponte Vedra. Depending on the breezes off the nearby Atlantic, you might use a different club off every one of the tees of those par-3s.

While somewhat daunting from the tips (and with water on 17 of the 18 holes), every player can enjoy their game here from the 6000-yard white tees (69.8/129), the 5400-yard green tees (66.3/117) and the forward tees that measure just over 4800 yards. From the shorter tees, there are only two forced carries, neither of which will deter a funfilled round. The Tom Burnett Golf Academy offers a full range of instruction, from single individual lessons to full-day programs, group clinics and again, any customizable package you’d like to create.

Golf is the centerpiece, but not the only story in the elegant First Coast community. Ponte Vedra Golf and Country Club pairs its great golf with tennis and other wonderful recreational features. The club is home to 10 Har-Tru tennis courts, eight of which are lit for nighttime use and a junior Olympic-sized swimming pool.
